What To Do?

If Glenn was mainstreamed he'd be graduating middle school this year and starting high school in the fall. His school only goes to 9th grade so he'll be "graduating" next year then going on to a new school. Turns out that his school does a promotion ceremony for each grade so he'll have a graduation this year too. Guess when it is? The exact same time and date as Patch's graduation from grammar school! Figures. Couldn't have been a few hours or days different...has to be the same time and date. I think we're going to divide and conquer...I'll go to one and my husband will go to the other. As Patch says "Some days chicken, other days eggs."

Happy Birthday Patch!

Today is my littlest man's 11th birthday. Hard to believe my baby is eleven already! Every morning I have a cry on his birthday. See, he almost died at birth. I was in labor more than 17 hours and then the doctor said he was in distress and she had to do an emergency csection. I said let's go. Before I knew it, they had me almost cut in half and were carrying out my baby, who was gone so quickly that they couldn't tell me for sure if he was a boy or a girl. Turns out that my uterus had ruptured and the baby was in distress. I sent Glenn to go check on him while they stitched me back together. I cannot tell you all the thoughts that went through my mind at the time...cerebral palsy, learning disabilities, mental disability. Within a few moments a pediatrician came in and congratulated me on my big HEALTHY baby boy! By that time the tears had filled both my ears and spilled over. Then the tears of joy began. He was fine and healthy! Still is as a matter of fact...all 80 lbs and 4'10 of him.
Happy birthday my sweet boy. I love you to the moon and back a million gazillion times.

And So The Summer Begins

Well the weekend went really well. We had a lot of company, fun, food and drinks. The weather couldn't have been more perfect for our party and about 40 people showed. Glenn did an amazing job of cooking...he truly is a grill master. Best pulled pork EVER! Was one of those weekends that you thoroughly enjoy but are glad to see come to an end. I needed a rest from my weekend! We told the boys what their graduation gift is...a two day trip to Universal Studios! We're leaving for Florida on June 21st to visit my sister for 3 weeks. YAY! Needless to say they were overjoyed.
Still no middle school news. Supposedly this week or next. We'll see. Nothing like waiting till the last minute huh?
I've begun knitting too. I'm almost done with my first project. A scarf. Of course. It's done in a box stitch with a mohair blend yarn in a rust color. I've been buying all kinds of yarn on Craigslist. It's been a great resource for me. Nice yarns, cheap price. I've been reading Knitting For Dummies, joining various knitting websites and watching knitting videos on YouTube. A friend of mine who's been knitting for a few years, was very impressed with my first project and said I'm doing a great job. I'm really enjoying it and am anxious to learn more and do more complex things. As soon as it's done, I'll post photos.

Memorial Day Party

This is gonna be a busy weekend! We have an annual Memorial Day party celebrating Memorial Day, of course, birthdays and graduations. There will be a houseful of guests on Sunday for fun and barbeque. Loads of people are coming up from the city to our country house to join in the festivities. I'm really looking forward to it.
Still waiting to hear about middle school acceptance. UGH! Hopefully we'll be hearing by the end of next week. Here's hoping!

My First Project

Ok this is something I crocheted yesterday. I used to crochet but haven't in about 10 years. I made this scarf for my younger son just to pass the time and get used to having yarn in my hands again. Hopefully by next week I'll be able to knit something instead of crocheting.
