New Year's Eve

Here we are...the last day of 2006. A time to look back on both the good and bad. Once again I'm grateful that the good far outweighs the bad. My kids are happy, healthy, loving and kind. My husband is the best...I couldn't ask for more. Other people in my life are a pain in the ass but I'm coming to the realization that I can't change how they act...only how I react.
Today we're going to go down to Chinatown and have a New Years Eve lunch and do some shopping and pick up lobster for dinner to cook at home. We haven't gone out for NYE in ages and we have a nice homey one with the kids.
It's a time to look back at the good and bad but also a time to look forward. We're going to Florida this year for vacation. Two of my favorite things are there...my sister and Disney. The boys will be hitting milestones...one will be a teenager and the other will be hitting double digits. I'll be in my "mid" forties and my husband will still be a year younger than me, which he never lets me forget lol.
As for resolutions...I have 2. One is to lose weight...which has been my NY resolution for ages. The other is not to be so judgmental about others...or to try not to be. Live and let live so to speak. I hope I achieve some sort of success on both.
Well...time to run. Happy New Year!

Christmas Shopping

Christmas shopping in Manhattan is a nightmare. I'm not looking forward to it at all. I'm wary of online shopping for some things because I like to be hands on so I really have no choice but to brave the tourists and get my shop on. Gonna have to hit the ginormous Toys R Us in Times Square and do a power shop one day next week. Gonna take me till then to get my head into it. Gonna have to hit an Old Navy for nieces and nephews. They boys are really into electronics, MP3 players, video games etc so that makes shopping relatively easy...but expensive.
Went upstate to the country house the last few weekends...was nice and quaint. Got pie eyed with my sister and did some drunken therapy. Was great fun but the next day I was hungover like a sumbitch. Pat's holiday concert is tomorrow night and I'm hoping it's the last time I'll ever have to hear the song Hot Cross Buns ever again in my lifetime. Glenn has a sleepover on Saturday...his first ever. She's a brave mom taking on a bunch of kids with emotional problems for an overnight! Glad it's not that far from us in case there's a problem. Well it's time for school so I'm outtie.
